What’s up with Bachelor Parties????

I was awoken this morning at 6 am by my intoxicated stinky incoherent fiancé who was just getting home from his bachelor party. What is it about bachelor parties that make most girls crazy???? Let me tell you. No matter how much you trust your husband-to-be (and seriously I trust Jason more than anything), the part that is most frustrating about these events is that it’s like a secret service.  Girls can’t ask questions about it and guys won’t open their mouths about it. I mean….wtf?

I’m awake this morning writing this blog while I listen to him snore away and smell him sweat out the remaining booze from his pores and I’m thinking many different things: “Where did he go?” What did he do?” “How is he possibly still intoxicated at 6 am if bars stop serving booze at 3 am?” “After eating a huge meal and being a BIG MAN, how much did he have to drink to get to this point?”  “Who were the last men standing?” Woman think of these things (at least I think most of us do) and they could make us crazy!

I  played the ‘nice wife-to-be’ and avoided asking all of these questions at 6 am, and basically gave him a kiss, fed him some water & advil, helped him remove his clothing and put him to bed…no words exchanged.

That being said, it’s now 11 am, it’s my birthday morning, we have a wedding in a week and it’s almost time he gets up & gets into gear.

Lol.   I sound like a crazie.

To be perfectly honest, I am just really happy he made it home ok and that his beautiful face is still in good condition (no joke – I once planned a wedding for a groom who got into a fight at his bachelor party and literally had a black eye on his wedding day).  I know my fiancé so well, what he likes, what turns him on, what kind of buzz he will get when he drinks different types of booze and generally how he would react to different things. And one thing I know and LOVE about him is the respect, commitment and loyalty he has towards the woman he loves. This doesn’t mean he has been this way his whole life because I know better than any that Jason has his playboy days.

The point of this blog was not to bash bachelor parties but to share with any future grooms reading this a few points of advice:

–          the day of your bachelor party make sure you are on great terms with your fiancée and that you shower her with love.

–          send ONE (don’t start a convo) text message during the night saying something like ‘just want you to know I love you and can’t wait to marry you’

–          when you get home, pretend you  are in top shape and it was just another boys’ night out

–          give your fiancée just a few details to satisfy her (we had this…., we went here…, I drank this…., so and so was there, …)

–          don’t throw any of your boys under the bus (because god knows we may never trust that guy again)

–          the day after your bachelor party make sure you are on great terms with your fiancée and that you shower her with love (especially if it’s her birthday!)

Quick Shout Out to Rib n Reef Restaurant where Jason spent a portion of his night last night…..I know the owner Peter Katsoudas took great care of them. This restaurant is the perfect place for a bachelor party dinner……great cuts of meat, cigars, scotches, musky scents in the air,  beautiful wooden décor, incredible service…what more could a man ask for?

On another note, I had two amazing back-to-back bachelorette weekends with my favorite-lady friends. I won’t reveal too many details (why should we???) but all I can say is that it included a few days in Miami, lots of champagne, tequila shots, amazing girlfriends, dancing to some great hip hop, a red Camaro, delicious food at Atelier Franca Mazza, penile –everything (cookies, wands, necklaces, cutlery?),  a 15-pax Navigator limo and lots of laughs. Both weekends were perfect in my opinion ….nothing exaggerated, no scandals, no massive hangovers, and not too much cheesiness.  I may sound boring but when you are 33 years old and you plan parties for a living….a glass of wine and good friends is all I need.
