As excited as I am for this wedding in 4 days, in the back of my mind, I’m also incredibly excited to sleep!
One of my favorite activities to do with Jason is nap (he is so beautiful when he’s quiet – lol) ….and we will be napping in two amazing hotels over the next week……!
A few years ago, Jason and I spent Valentine’s Day at the Ice Hotel on Ile Ste-Helene having dinner in the Ice Restaurant, visiting the Ice Chapel, jumping on the beds in the ice bedrooms, and dancing in the ice club. I truly enjoyed the experience but for me, being cold is like being in the worst horror movie ever. I HATE being cold (Side note: Our condo is always at 18 degrees because I live with a bear so I literally almost need to wear a snowsuit inside.) Anyway, at the end of our night, we ended up at one of my favorite places in this city…the PLACE D’ARMES HOTEL. Its modern yet cozy atmosphere, low lighting and amazing staff (Marie-Michele in particular) make this hotel a real pleasure to work at, dine at and particularly, sleep at. Jason and I got a beautiful suite and spent the next 12 hours in heaven. The bed, the fireplace, the rain shower made the perfect Valentine’s setting.
So it was a real no-brainer to choose the Place d’Armes Hotel as our wedding sleepover destination. Anna Antonopoulos (and her lovely family), whose gorgeous wedding I planned almost 2 years ago, was kind enough to upgrade me to their luxurious penthouse suite and threw in all sorts of goodies…her staff is shoveling snow off the rooftop so I can go out there for photos, they gave me my own ‘hair & makeup room’, I have early check-in and late check-out…..and hopefully, I will get a dysfunctional TV so I don’t have to wake up at 6 am to watch the Olympic Canada Hockey game the morning after the wedding.

Our honeymoon post-wedding has been a big point of contention between Jason and I. Jason wants to go to Tahiti or Bali while I prefer Europe. We also both run businesses of our own (Jason owns Tronictel Consulting- www.tronictel.com) and so we can’t just pick up and leave. So rather than arguing and turning in circles, we put the honeymoon aside for a second and decided to book a few days in Tremblant to just relax and unwind after the wedding. A little boring….maybe. But the fun part is called THE QUINTESSENCE. I have visited the Quintessence Hotel a dozen times but I have never stayed there. Our wedding planner’s association got treated to an amazing tour and lunch there a few months back and I fell in love when I saw the rooms and the surroundings…and particularly the little private dining space right off the kitchen where Michael Douglas proposed to Catherine Zeta Jones. All I really want to do next week is stay in bed, order room service, cozy up by the fire, nap and enjoy my HUSBAND. There is no a better place than the Quintessence.
I have stayed at numerous hotels around the world and the two above are just special….they feel like home.
