Do you and your fiancé have a wedding personality?

A few years ago, in our office, we built a vision board listing words and phrases describing our ‘perfect client’. (I’m a big believer in the Secret and visualizing what you want). So I was writing down stuff like ‘shops at Zara’, ‘does groceries at the Atwater market’, ‘enjoys restaurants like Tuck Shop’, etc and the girls in my office were shocked and could not understand how any of it had to do with being a ‘perfect bride’.  I explained that by asking couples questions like these (‘what’s your favorite resto?, etc), it really allows me to get to know them and establish their wedding personality….and in turn helps to determine your wedding theme.

Years ago, when my old partner and I named our company  – BLANC HAUTE COUTURE EVENTS – I never intended to give off the impression that we plan fashion events but rather to portray the fact that we create custom events for each couple. Being a wedding planner means seeing a lot of rings…and I mean a lot of rings!  I can appreciate each and every one and absolutely love the stories behind the rings but I was never the type of girl who loved diamonds or owned any really pricey jewelry items.  I was more the type to own thousands of different accessories from big earrings to chunky necklaces to rings, hats and scarves….all that I picked up from random places & street corners around the world.

So when Jason started asking me what I wanted in terms of an engagement ring a year ago, I had no answer for him. Actually – it was more like I never could have imagined him creating a piece of jewelry that I would love for the next 50+ years. It’s not an easy task!  Jason has a very traditional side & appreciates simple elegance and as much as he knows me well and gets my eccentric side, I would have expected him to come home with a beautiful classic solitaire.  Boy, was I wrong!
